A Day in the Life

The first thing you notice when you walk through the door at Pacific Crest is the music and the laughter. Students in the Community Room strum guitars, challenge each other at chess or cards, share a joke, play CDs. In the hallway, a teacher takes a ribbing from a colorful group of teens—and cheerfully gives it right back. Someone is singing The Monster Mash in the auditorium.

As a stranger, there’s always a moment of disorientation in any new environment, but the moment passes quickly here as one of the young faces in the hall smiles and says to the visitor, “Hi! Who are you looking for?” It doesn’t take long to sense that there is something special happening at this school: the students enjoy it and want to be here.

Life at Pacific Crest proceeds from there.
